One day, Karnikkaka called me, said "meet me in Matunga". When I went, I was told to distribute 140 odd tooth brushes and toothpastes to 140 odd boys of David Sassoon school.
Later I came to know that these boys had escaped from prisons and were being rehabilitated. I came to also know that Nandaai comes and looks after these children, some volunteers teach them some skills so that when released these boys can earn honest wages and not go back to wrong ways.
Until that time, to me Bapu was a good orator. May be He had some divine powers because of which his pravachans seemed to have answers for every attendee. But on that fateful day, He became for me "God". Because if He was sensitive about a child who had lost his/her way, if He cared for their rehabilitation, I knew He would care for me and for everyone who had no one!!!!
Why was I singled out to distribute these toothpastes? I wondered! And then I knew the mission of my life. I realised that there was more to life than just being a corporate executive. And that when you GAVE, you received MUCH MORE!!! And when you gave without expectations, you experienced a rare joy!!!! Hari Om!
